Indian's 'Gold Man' from Pune who k for purchasing a 'gold shirt' was clubbed to death before his child on Thursday.
Datta Phuge, 48, ndustrial township of Pimpri-Chinchwad got to be renowned after he sewed an extravagant INR10 million 22-carat pure gold shirt for himself.
The millionaire money lender was assaulted by 12 people at an open ground in Dighi zone in Pune on Thursday night with stones and a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot.
“As per preliminary information, Phuge and his son were invited by one of the suspects, who know each other, to celebrate a birthday. However, we are investigating how Phuge reached the open ground where he was murdered,” Dighi police headquarters inspector Navnath Ghogare said.
Phuge's 22-year-old son, who saw his dad's homicide, was spared by the assailants, as indicated by the police.
Police suspect that some difference over a cash exchange could be the reason for the murder.
“We have detained four persons and suspect that dispute over a money transaction between them could be the motive behind his murder,” said Ghogare.
Phuge was into cash loaning and chit store business.
